Candles have become the epitome of class and luxury. When it comes to floating candles and tealight candles, they are the most versatile type of candles, which can be used for enhancing the appearance and reflecting the décor theme of any space or occasion. Whether used as centerpieces or as accent décor, these candles create a fresh and modern look. Floaters and tealights can be used to create an elegant or rustic look depending on the type of glass containers used.
Floating candles or floaters are very versatile decorative candles. They can be placed in any vessel that holds water. They come in different shapes and are designed to ensure they will remain stable as they burn rather than tipping or sinking and extinguishing themselves. Floating candles can be added to water features in your garden and around your home. Scattered across your swimming pool, they will create a beautiful effect. Just make sure your pool pump is turned off.
Floaters are very popular as a centerpiece at your dinner table or for your next event. Depending on the theme of your event you can use different décor elements such as flowers or a fern leaf, fruit, seashells or sequins.
Tealight candles or tealights are candles encased in a thin aluminum or plastic cup so that the candle can liquefy completely while lit. They are typically small, circular, and wider than their height. Because of their small size and low level of light, multiple tealights are often burned simultaneously.
Tealights can come in many different sizes, small and large, as well as burn times and scents. However, the most common tealight is 1.5 in by 0.63 in, with white unscented wax. A standard tealight candle typically has a burn time anywhere between 3-5 hours.
According to professional designers, the most exquisite floaters and tealights are white, although there are many other shades. The ideal décor option for creating a chic atmosphere is the combination of these candles with transparent glass, as such an alliance is perfect for any color scheme of the table.
To achieve a romantic mood in the house, you can use small candlesticks in the form of flowers or vintage lanterns made of white-painted metal wire.
If you are seeking something bright, place tealight candles in colored glass candlesticks. The interesting fact is that the sophistication of the shape of the candlestick does not play any role: tealights will sparkle with new colors even in simple, hand-painted jars. This technique works great for creating color effects in a table setting - similar to other elements of the table.
If you choose to use colored tealight candles, the rules of good taste suggest a neutral tone for candlesticks. Another option is to use a colored tealight in a transparent candlestick, wrap the latter with a simple white cloth and tied it with a thin ribbon in the color of the candle.
For colored floating candles, get contrasting ones and place them in “layers” in a tall vase, and put flowers and acrylic pebbles at the bottom.
Placing floating candles in a glass is a well-known technique. But nowadays there is another trendy technique for tealights and glasses: the glass is turned upside down and acts as an elegant candlestick. How simple and brilliant that is! To get a more chic design, take the tealight out of the aluminum/plastic cup.
A spectacular solution, supposedly coming from Southeast Asia. Combine them with a long narrow boat tray or flower petals, it will look amazing.
Easter is hopping around the corner! This is one of those holidays that take you by surprise. There’s not a lot of time left and plenty of things to do so you might be tempted to overlook some of the details such as the Easter table. But you don’t necessarily have to spend a lot of time preparing them. We have some great ideas for you to try this year.
There are many ways you can incorporate the season's freshest flowers and brilliant colors into last-minute decorations. Easter colorful decorations will make this day even brighter and more joyful. By choosing the perfect décor for a feast, you can create a special mood.
If you usually don't cover tables with tablecloths, it's worth making an exception for Easter. The traditional décor of the Easter table “requires” a tablecloth in white or delicate pastel colors - light green, blue, and pink. Whereas, a tablecloth with typical Easter patterns such as eggs, chickens, and rabbits will be even better. You can also use a table runner for your tablescape: this option will look especially good on a wooden table.
As a beautiful tablescape for Easter, it is best to use textile napkins that match the tone of your tablecloth or table runner. But instead of just stacking them next to cutlery, get creative. Napkins can be beautifully tied with colored ribbons or inserted into bunny napkin rings. Another interesting option for Easter tablescape is to fold napkins into a figure, for example, in the form of bunny ears.
A beautifully designed basket is the main decoration of the Easter table. Decorate the Easter basket with ribbons, an embroidered towel, fresh flowers and some cute bunnies.
Candles are essential for creating a cozy homely atmosphere, so you should definitely put them on the festive table. Here are some cool Easter ideas:
Candle eggs. Poke a small hole on the top of a raw egg, discard the contents and rinse a little with clean water. After that, pour melted wax into the shell. When it completely hardens (within 40-60 minutes), carefully peel the wax egg from the shell.
Candles in shells. You can beautifully decorate the table for Easter by inserting tealight candles into multi-colored eggshells. To keep them from falling, use candlesticks or homemade nests. You can also purchase ready-made candles of any shape and color.
What's the easiest way to decorate an Easter table? Use the proven method and arrange a few themed figurines. The Easter spirit is best conveyed by rabbit figurines. Other figurine options are hens and chickens, angels, and beautifully painted eggs.
Everything related to chickens and birds, in general, looks very good for the Easter tablescape, as it is directly associated with the main symbol of the holiday - eggs. Therefore, decorative nests on the table for Easter help to create the right mood. You can buy ready-made ones or make them yourself, decorating them with feathers, straw, dried flowers or fresh flowers. You can put eggs or small gifts for guests in the nests.
Pay attention to the dishes you are planning to put on the table for the Easter dinner. The entire décor of the house and the table in one style looks noble and beautiful. To create a solemn atmosphere, purchase not only plates, but also various accessories such as coasters, napkin holders, sets for spices, etc. If desired, dishes with images of rabbits, flowers or chickens will make the Easter mood.
Take advantage of the season’s colors and prepare a magnificent bouquet to decorate your home. A composition of fresh flowers can be put on a coffee table in the living room, next to the window in the kitchen, or on a mantel. The festive table can be decorated with several small bouquets. And don't forget the beautiful vase. To give the table a romantic touch, place the flowers in a basket, metal teapot or watering can. Mini-bouquets for guests can be arranged in paper bags and tied with bright ribbons.
There are many ways to serve Easter-colored eggs. An egg stand will look very original on the Easter table: The easiest option is to purchase dishes for serving eggs. Most often these plates have beautiful patterns, so it does not need additional décor. You can also use small nests or make small boxes or boats out of thick colored paper, and lay the eggs in them.

Marine theme candles create a beach, nautical or ocean décor for your home or office. Shells and sand, starfish and pebbles, fish and boats, a combination of blue, blue and white. All these can surround the simplest candles and create a unique and beautiful artistic atmosphere. Each of these décor elements features the calming influences of the ocean.
In addition to sea pebbles and sand, as mentioned above, any natural materials, including leaves, plant seeds, coffee, cereals, can take part in the creation of summer candles compositions. Shaped candles and tealight candles are also perfect for eco-style decoration with candles.
Candles, combined with flowers, make a gorgeous and romantic atmosphere in the fresh air. Large or small tealight candles make the space cozy and relaxing. Flowers and candles will make your loved ones feel very special. Fresh flower petals floating in the water, combined with tealight candles, look beautiful and offer a romantic holiday mood.
Summer colorful fruits are a great addition to any candle. Invitingly shaped, brightly colored, deliciously flavored fruits will give a juicy and summery look to any décor. Pillar candles and floating candles are perfect for this kind of decoration. Pillar candles with some citrusy fruits or berries look very creative and natural. Another option is clear glass vases and bowls with half-filled water and fruits of your choice and floating candles.
A summer picnic evokes a scent of fresh flowers, juicy fruits, a citrus grove with a warm breeze, and a gentle hug. Create a colorful summer atmosphere on a table or in a corner of the house with bright summer candle decorations.
Candles add a romantic atmosphere to any space, indoor or outdoor. They make fantastic centerpieces, go with any décor style, and come in a lot of different sizes, shapes and colors. They’re a very versatile way to add style to an outdoor or indoor space.
Summer is almost here! And this time of the year we start to enjoy life outdoors more, enjoy the benefits of the sun and decorate our gardens and patios. The decoration tends to be more colorful than in any other season and lighter at the same time bringing coziness and the desire to spend more time outside of the home while still feeling homey.
Decorations and lighting are an important part of creating the mood you want for you and for your loved ones. Patio candles, candles decorated with branches of trees, flowers, fruits, plants, and handmade boxes play an important role in decorating exteriors.
Smells and aromas have incredible power. They can instantly transport you to the past where that aroma has been originated. Become an absolute association with someone or a place. This is a type of portal that can not only help us travel through time, but also can cause certain reactions. For example, incense can help us relax, sleep, concentrate, stimulate creativity, increase motivation.
The best way to make aromas part of our life is to use certain smells for certain purposes. For example, there are some incense products that are endowed with the right properties to create the atmosphere you need.
Frankincense, sandalwood, and cedarwood are "soothing scents," so they are good for general relaxation.
Learning about incense is an interesting journey to aromas. What you like, what motivates you, what influences you the most! Turning incense burning into a hobby will encourage you to slow down, appreciate things more, even fine-tune your ability to focus and concentrate. There is always something to discover, learn and appreciate.
In this article, we will talk about the warm and magical elements of wedding décor – taper candles.
Probably not a single wedding has been decorated without candles: taper candles are a great way to add height to any table without blocking the view of guests across the table. Candlesticks are a great starting point for a centerpiece because you can accent them in so many ways – small floral arrangements, bud vases, greenery, velvet table runners – truly there are no limitations.
We are all so used to candles that we forget about the basic rules that should be followed when using candles in wedding décor:
Any wedding dinner will sparkle with new colors if you add candles to it. You can add them to the main composition or make them the centerpiece on the table. In both cases, they should be in candlesticks or on stands.
If the central place on the table is occupied by a floral or other design composition, then choose such candles and candlesticks that will be combined with the main serving element.
Thin antique candles look best in a company with classic or “garden” flower arrangements, but thicker and more voluminous options are suitable for informal styles: rustic, country style. Candles can also be a great option for decorating long tables: you can make a path through the entire table from candles of different heights or add them to an existing flower garland.
Candles are a fragile part of the décor, so be sure to prepare a few spare ones so that in case of breakage you can quickly replace them with new ones.
Arrangements with floating candles are a great way to decorate an interior or a festive event. Such an original décor will perfectly complement a wedding decoration or a romantic dinner. The use of floating candles creates a special atmosphere: their soft flickering reflected from the water surface fills a room with bright tints of glare and subdued light. Such unusual decorations look good on a table, as well as in a more intimate environment.
To make a decorative arrangement with floating candles you will need:
If you want to make a single composition, prepare a round vase, the size of which will allow you to place several items inside. Fill the container with water and carefully place the floating candles in the center. Cut off the stems of the flowers and place the flower heads in the vase so that they are freely balanced on the surface. Any flowers are suitable for a decorative arrangement, but varieties with large buds work better. For example, you can use bright gerberas, chamomiles, daisies, orchids, roses, or gardenias that have large petals that will create the right proportions.
This design option involves the creation of a more complex compositional scheme based on the simultaneous decoration of several vases at once. For décor, you will need three containers of the same shape, but different sizes. Fill each vase halfway with water. Put three floating candles in the first vase, only one candle in the second vase, and flowers in the third vase. Make sure to shorten the flowers in advance to the desired length. As a result, you will get an unusual design, which will look fresh and extraordinary due to the difference in the height of the containers and the contrasting combination of elements.
If there are no beautiful vases at hand, you can even use ordinary glass jars to create a composition. Simply decorate the jar with a decorative ribbon around the neck, and complete the décor with floating candles by placing one in each jar.
Whichever design option you choose, candles will allow you to create a romantic and cozy environment quickly and without hassle. You can create your own arrangement by choosing a design to your taste. Any transparent container will do as a base. For example, you can use crystal or glass bowls, goblets and even glasses. The main thing is that the containers are transparent and do not draw all attention to themselves. You can also use beads, crystals, pebbles, artificial pearls, berries, etc. as décor elements with your floating candles.
As for the candles themselves, many variations are also possible here. When choosing the candles consider the season and features of the event for which the composition is being created. For the New Year, you can use white star-shaped candles, and for Valentine's Day, red heart-shaped candles are the perfect fit. Candles imitating flowers or butterflies will look appropriate for spring events, while for summer you can pick up shell candles that will set the tone for the whole composition.
If desired, a little food dye can be added to the water to give the liquid a hue that will blend harmoniously with decorative elements and flowers.
You can apply your creativity and imagination when creating decorations with floating candles. Experiment, and you will get a unique design that will become a real decoration of any solemn or family event.
Lighting a scented candle can easily become part of your yoga practice or meditation ritual; a physical act to set the stage for reflection and fill the room with soothing notes.
Meditation is a concept originating from the prehistoric period. It refers to any form of spiritual practice: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Taoism and other practices. Meditation is a special process that will make you achieve spiritual growth and “enlightenment”. The essence of meditation is the acquisition of inner freedom, which is impossible without the “silence of the mind”. What does it mean? - the absence of obsessive thoughts, peace of mind and focus on the present moment.
Nowadays, meditation can be practiced without any religious or spiritual overtones. In the rhythm of modern life, meditation allows you to relax both physically and spiritually, to relieve the load of stress. We have all been in a meditative state, for example, when we looked at the flames of a fire or clouds floating across the sky, time flew by so imperceptibly. However, conscious meditation is a skill that is developed by practice. In order to enhance the effect of meditation and help achieve the desired state, various methods and attributes are used that improve concentration, relieve nervous tension, improve blood circulation in the brain, and so on. The most common attributes of meditation include:
Today we are going to talk about the use of scented candles in meditation. Scented candles are a perfect way to transform any space into the ideal place for a calming yoga session or meditation practice. Using candles for yoga and meditation at home or within a studio can support you in focusing your mind, anchoring your practice and moving into a mentally and physically calming space. The right combination of scents can take weight from our shoulders, evoke creativity and help with emotional healing.
Traditional scents used in yoga and meditation include sandalwood and frankincense, though there are now of course many more to explore for your yoga practice. Scents are an essential part of yoga practice, as a smell can promote strong emotional reactions, such as relaxation.
Whilst incense is traditionally used in yoga, as it’s believed to purify the air and soothe the mind, body and spirit – some can find it a little overpowering. Candles for yoga and meditation are a perfect alternative for creating a soothing space.
Many studios consciously choose candles for yoga to create a peaceful atmosphere for meditation and yoga classes.
The ambiance and mood can be set with just a few candles, but it comes down to knowing which scents will help to support different types of yoga and meditation. Scents like vetiver and sweet marjoram have woody and earthy qualities, perfect for creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Fragrances like rosemary and lemon can energize and focus you during your yoga practice. There are other scents that are well known for being stress-relieving, relaxing, and unwinding, such as lavender, sage, and sandalwood. Using candles for meditation can help to transport your mind to a soothed space, signaling to your mind that now is the time to sit, to be still.
Historically, candles have been a significant and traditional element of rituals and spiritual practices. Whether placed at an altar, lit at shrines and statues, or the flames to honor the memory of loved ones, candles have long been richly symbolic.
Take your time to set the intention as you light your candle. Look out for candles with jasmine which promotes relaxation, or sage which has been a long-used scent in meditation practices.
Start your practice by dimming any lights, whether closing curtains or turning off artificial lights so you can focus on the light of the candles.
Set up your candle or candles across the room so you create a soothing ambiance of flickering light, or set one candle in front of you to act as a focal point during your meditation.
Next, make sure you’re in a comfortable position and wearing loose, soft clothing. Pick a candle to gaze at, as a starting point to settle your thoughts. Let the flickering candle occupy your mind.
From here, you can shift your meditation into one with your eyes closed or choose to focus on something else other than the candle’s flame.
Most of us don't know how to use a candle correctly. Most of us don't realize that there is a right way to burn a candle and most of us have no idea what that is. As a result, we have to scrape the soot off a candlestick and experience other unfortunate consequences. Follow these tips and you'll be a real candle-burning pro.
How do you light a candle and treat it while it is burning? Many do not have the slightest idea how to use the purchased candle to the maximum. Follow these guidelines and you'll get way more out of your candles every time with no wasted wax (or scent).
Don't be lazy, each time you want to burn your candle, start by trimming the wick to between 1/8 and 1/4 inches long. You can use scissors, nail clippers, or a wick trimmer. Why every time? Trimmed wicks will make your candle burn cleaner and brighter. Untrimmed wicks are a lot more likely to take on a strange shape that dulls and obscures the flame. Also, excessively long wicks cause nasty smoky stains that end up on your glass jar candles.
By the way, the most convenient way to light a candle is to use long matches.
When you have your candle lit, do not extinguish it until the top layer of wax is completely melted. This may take several hours. If you are not ready to wait that long, it is better not to light a candle at all.
If you do not let the wax melt completely, you're contributing to a process called tunneling. Tunneling happens when only a small portion of the wax around the wick melts while the candle is burning. Instead of having the entire surface of the wax melt evenly, it will appear as though the flame is burrowing into the candle and creating what resembles a small, vertical tunnel. Inside the tunnel, the wax directly underneath the flame quickly melts into the liquid while the surrounding wax remains hard. This causes the tunneling to become worse over time. Once the wick descends deeper into the surrounding wax, the flame won’t be able to get enough oxygen to sustain itself, causing the candle to go out. Tunneling is bad because it can drastically reduce the total burn time of your candle.
Yes, it takes patience. But if you let the wax melt completely every time you light a candle, the surface of the candle will remain smooth and the walls of the candlestick clean.
If you don’t have time or patience to wait for the wax to melt all the way across, buy candles that have two or more wicks. More flames mean more heat, which leads to a quicker melt. It also throws more scent. Avoid very wide single-wick candles. The heat from one wick is clearly not enough to completely melt the entire candle.
Try to keep the burning candle far away from fans, air conditioners, open windows, or high traffic areas. Moving air can disturb the flame, which can also stain the tin or jar, and can give you tunneling and other issues.
To extinguish a candle, cover it with some kind of lid, but do not blow it out (unless, of course, this is a candle from your birthday cake). This way you can avoid unpleasant odors.
Now you are ready. Use your candles the way the pros do, save money and effort, and enjoy your candles to the fullest.
As Easter approaches, it is good to know what candles are used for that holiday. Also known as Easter candles or Christ candles, paschal candles are an important part of the fifty-day Easter season celebration of many Christian religions throughout the world. Paschal candles are large candles that have important Christian symbols on them. The decorations on a paschal candle include:
White Candle - the candle itself is white, which along with gold, is the liturgical color of the Easter season.
A Cross - this is usually the center of the design. These are usually red and/or gold.
Alpha and Omega - to represent the beginning and the end, are above (alpha) and below (omega) the cross.
The Year - either surrounding the cross (2 numbers on top of the cross arms and 2 numbers under the cross arms) or the full year can be at the bottom of the candle.
Cloves - 5 cloves can be included on the candle. These represent the nails that hung Jesus on the cross, and also the 5 wounds of Christ. These are placed into the end of the arm of each cross, and one right in the middle of the cross.
Generally made of at least fifty-one percent beeswax, the paschal candles for Easter remains in its place in the front of the church throughout the Easter season and is lit for all services. Once the fifty-day Easter season ends, on Pentecost, the candle is moved to its position by the baptismal font and is lit for all baptisms. It is also lit for all funeral services and is placed next to the casket at those times. In both baptism and funeral services, the significance of the paschal candle decorations remains the same as they were during the Easter season. They are symbols that God is always present with you from the beginning to the end.
“Hygge” - pronounced hyoo-guh - is a Danish word that loosely translates to “coziness” or “comfort,” and it’s often used to describe a vibe or feeling that you’d get from snuggling indoors on a cold day. Since the word entered the American lexicon, hygge has become a full-blown, Instagram-worthy lifestyle filled with warm blankets and glowing and scented candles.
Simplicity and modesty are the main components of hygge. This is a simple and leisurely life, filled with happiness and comfort. Hygge is the ability to appreciate the simple pleasures of life. Hygge is not associated only with lighting but also with smell, touch, taste, sounds and small details.
Joy is the main value of our life. Do what makes you feel happy. Surround yourself with those things and those people that bring positive emotions. Smile often, love, laugh - just allow yourself to be happy.
Candles are considered the easiest way of adding instant hygge to your life. Meik Wiking, in his book ‘The Little Book of Hygge’, said that “no recipe for hygge is complete without candles.”
Adding a luxury scented candle to your home or office creates a sense of ‘hygge’ in your life. 85% of Danish people associate candles with hygge. The power of candles comes from the atmosphere that it creates, adding light and a gentle glow to your space. In Denmark, they add candles everywhere, from their boardrooms to bedrooms and classrooms.
Candles offer a form of emotional happiness and coziness, giving you an instant serotonin boost. All you need to do is light a candle with your favorite scent to feel the stress drop off your shoulders. The light from the lamps is not as magical and cozy as the light from the candles. It is worth lighting candles, turning off the lamps, and you will get a feeling of true hygge.
Have a hygge at home. You don't need to spend a lot for that. You can fill the house with the help of inexpensive, do-it-yourself things. The house in Denmark is the main place where communication takes place. The Danes philosophy says - there should be a "cozy corner" in every house. No candles, no hygge. And blankets and pillows are the main piece of furniture for the Danes. How wonderful it is to wrap yourself in a blanket on a huge pile of pillows!
Candle safety tips - Candles add personality to your décor, establish an element of peace and serenity, and make your home smell great. While there are many benefits to burning candles, proper candle safety is important to prevent accidents or injuries.
Follow these precautionary measures when using candles:
Do not leave a burning Candle unattended for a long time.
Light the candle only after placing it on a candlestick.
Do not leave the burning candle unattended, especially if there are small children or animals in the room.
Place the candles at a distance of no closer than 4” from each other.
Do not place a burning candle on a windowsill or near flammable objects (books, newspapers, etc.).
It is not recommended to store candles in direct sunlight, as ultraviolet destroys dyes and can lead to fading, or near heating devices, since candles can be deformed under heat.
In order to extinguish a candle, one should cover it with some object (candle snuffer), excluding the supply of oxygen.
Before lighting a candle, remove all labels, decorations and accessories.
Place the candle in the candlestick evenly, steadily, and not at an angle.
Do not leave the candle in a place that is breezy (in the wind or draft) otherwise, the candle may fade or it will not burn evenly.
The length of the wick should be no more than 0.3”, otherwise the candle may start flickering and smoking. Frequently cut the wick if necessary.
So why are candles relaxing! Multiple research has shown that candles have a calming effect. The soft and magical light of a candle is an important component of mind and body relaxation. Whether it’s yoga, meditation, or a bubble bath, candles recreate a soothing atmosphere for every occasion. Researchers found that the flame of a candle soothes the soul, helps calm anxiety and aggression, relieves stress, and even leads to a meditative state.
The soft flickering of candlelight creates a relaxing atmosphere and adds a sense of warmth. The flicker of candlelight produces a lovely ambiance that simply cannot be replicated. And when you focus on that soft candle flame, your brain receives a signal, resulting in your body and mind relaxation. Relaxing under the light of a candle improves mental state, energizes, improves sleep, boosts immunity, and alleviates painful feelings.
Scented candles, on the other hand, have additional advantages. Besides soft candlelight, the brain "senses" scent notes of calming scents. All of us have special scents that bring us joy and remind us of happy moments in life. The aroma of a candle stimulates the limbic system of the brain, which includes the amygdala and the hippocampus, the regions related to emotion and memory. Dopamine is being released, which is responsible for allowing you to feel pleasure, satisfaction, and motivation.
Research shows that scented candles and essential oils can help reduce stress. Regular aromatherapy helps to relieve feelings of fear, anxiety, and stress.
Lavender, geraniums, and myrrh aromas are effective in treating psychological and physiological disorders. Ylang-ylang evokes a feeling of joy, and jasmine gives more energy and positivity. Mint improves memory and brain functionality, and geranium, rosemary, romaine, and lemon help with anxiety.
Psychologists advise buying scented candles with a citrus aroma in order to maintain a positive mood during the pandemic. These candles improve the mood and give positive energy. Orange and lime are the best medicines for anxiety and agitation.
Aromatherapy candles are candles that contain an indefinite amount of essential oils. Essential oils are concentrated substances that come from plants and resins.
Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it’s called essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit.

Let’s talk about some candle facts before we jump into home décor.
It was not until 3000 BC that the Egyptians created a true candle that was made out of beeswax. Wax candles burned brighter, lasted longer and didn’t have as much flame. However, beeswax candles were very expensive, only the wealthy and the church could afford them.
Paraffin was discovered by Karl Reichenbach in 1830. Paraffin is still one of the most popular products used in candle making.
Nowadays, that we no longer need to use candles as a source of light, their significance has been reduced to being purely decorative.
