Candle Making » Wicks
I was told that the wick will burn more properly if the open end of the v shape in the braid was place a certain way in the candle but i forgot if it should be up or down and if they are going by the flat side of the wire wick or on the rounded sick could you please let me know?
There is really no true direction to a candle wick. If you examine the braid of
a wick close enough you will see that the \/ pattern alternates around the wick
from a \/ (downward direction) to a /\ (upward direction). There are two sides
to a flat braided wick and four sides to a square braided wick, so there are an
equal number of \/ braids and /\ braids. The direction of the braids on a wick
actually has no effect on its ability to conduct the liquefied wax into the
combustion area of the candle flame.
