Candle Making » Wax
Can you recommend any of your waxes to create a new ski/surf/curb wax?
As candle makers we are not always familiar with the uses of wax outside of
candle making. According to our research it is difficult if not impossible to
get good clear information on wax formulas for Ski Wax, Surf Wax, or Curb Wax.
Obviously this is proprietary information held by the manufacturers of such
products. Imagine trying to get the formula for Coca-Cola, the ingredients say:
Carbonated water, corn syrup, caramel color, phosphoric acid, natural flavors,
caffeine. But try to make it at home. What are those "natural flavors" anyway?
Here are some of the ingredients we have found for these performance waxes, but
you would have to experiment with the formulations to get them to work for you:
paraffin wax, Microcrystaline, Beeswax. Surf, Ski, and Skate waxers have bought
every type of wax from us that we have available. These waxes are obviously the
bases for many formulations. Silicone, Fluorocarbon, Teflon, Pine Tar, Shellac,
Powdered Aluminum, and carnuba wax have been referred to as additives. We do not
sell carnuba wax, or any of the other additives.
