ID #1033

Does 1 lb. of solid wax equal 16 fluid ounces when melted?

No, because weight and volume measurements are not interchangeable. Although there are 16 ounces in a pound by weight, 16 fluid ounces of a liquid does not necessarily weigh one pound. The volume of melted wax also changes according to temperature; the higher the temperature, the greater the volume. In general though, one pound of solid wax equals about 20 fluid ounces when melted.
